January 20, 2023 – Nikolas Matthes, MD, PhD, MPH, MSc, has been chosen to participate on the Technical Expert Panel (TEP) convened by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to redesign a measure of hospital screen of health-related social needs such as food security and housing status. Dr. Matthes will be one of the stakeholders providing input on the design and implementation of an inpatient electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) for assessing social needs in the hospital setting.
As Assistant Vice President at IPRO, Dr. Matthes leads the NY State Sepsis Improvement Initiative and MIS-C reporting. He is also director of the newly launched Center for Performance Measurement. Prior to joining IPRO Dr. Matthes led research and product development for the clinical business unit at Press Ganey Associates focusing on eCQM, patient reported outcomes, and nursing sensitive quality measures. Before that he led indicator development for the Maryland Hospital Association’s Quality Indicator Project.
Dr. Matthes has comprehensive expertise in healthcare analytics and measurement solutions, quality measure development and implementation across a wide range of care settings and measures in the context of meeting regulatory and accreditation requirements.
